Charles Frederick Saigling and family moved to Plano in 1881. After purchasing railroad reservation land near this location, he established the C.F. Saigling Lumber Company. In addition to lumber and other building materials, the business sold coal for heating purposes. In 1895, the lumberyard was sold to J.T. Elliot.
