"This majestic modernist-style wine warehouse, the work of the architect Ricardo Bastida, has been recovered thanks to an ambitious project by the Bilbao City Council that bears the signature of the versatile Philippe Starck. Playing with the function of the original building, the enclosure has been transformed into a huge cultural container divided into three thematic buildings, totaling 15,000 square meters for leisure in its broadest sense. The so-called “Atrium of Cultures” welcomes the visitor and brings together the different spaces, a large covered square adorned with 43 columns of different architectural styles and materials. From there, the transparent bottom swimming pool located on the roof is visible: it is called “Terraza del Sol”, another of the building's privileged spaces.".
