DE: Am 5. Mai 1733 kam es im Anschluss zu einem Jagdausflug von Kurfürst Clemens August nach wiederholten Streitereien und Beleidigungen zwischen den Freiherren Johann Baptist von Roll und Friedrich Christian von Bevervörde trotz einiger Vermittlungsversuche in einem Obstgarten an der heutigen Comesstraße zu einem Duell, in dessen Verlauf von Roll tödlich verwundet wurde. Kurfürst Clemens August vermutete eine Intrige und entließ die in seiner Sicht daran Beteiligten aus seinen Diensten.

Diese Tafel wurde nicht weit von der Stelle des Duells von der Stadt Brühl am 7. September 2020 aufgestellt.

EN: On May 5, 1733, Prince-elector Clemens August went on a hunting trip. After the hunt repeated quarrels and insults between barons Johann Baptist von Roll and Friedrich Christian von Bevervörde, despite several attempts at mediation resulted in a duel, which took place on an orchard near what is now Comesstrasse. In the course of the duel von Roll was fatally wounded. Prince-elector Clemens August suspected an intrigue and dismissed those involved in it from his service.

This plaque was placed not far from the place of the duel by the city of Brühl on September 7, 2020.
