The 83rd New York Infantry monument was erected to honor the veterans from New York City. This is the only monument to honor New York City veterans.

The monument is fifty-one feet tall and shaped like a shaft, and consists of alternating levels of red and white granite, topped with a bronze cannonball. Sitting on the cannonball is a large bronze eagle.

The monument is made of Westerly granite and standard bronze, the sculptor was J. G. Hamilton, and the monument cost about $6000.
