"Since August 14, 1988, the A Palma park in Baiona has hosted a monument dedicated to the hunter, which was made by the sculptor Manuel Quintas. The curiosity of the piece is that it was made from different pieces of waste.This amateur artist, as described by the author of the book Public sculpture in Pontevedra , and his friends gathered a series of pieces from various sources. Later, Quintas was shaping until he got the figure of the primitive hunter, at the moment of throwing a spear. According to María de las Mercedes Gallego, the author of the aforementioned book, this provisional sculptor was inspired by a piece, also made with waste, which is found in Baiona. It refers to the Metallurgist that Steinbruggen made.
The inauguration coincided with the Santa Marta festivities in 1988. Sixty-seven people contributed to the meeting of materials to make this hunter. Screws, spanners, nuts, etc., are some of the materials used in this work. Years later, this author made a work dedicated to the Civil Guard, which is in the barracks of the town of Baiona."
