Nice example of a farm workhorse 1949 Chevrolet Loadmaster medium utility truck.
Chevrolet built over 1.9 million of this series at its four assembly plants in the USA. The Loadmaster came in 4 distinct styles. Standard power was a 2.3 Liter Inline 6, with a 4-speed manual transmission.
The Loadmaster is one of about 100 vehicles, tractors and pieces of farm machinery on display at Pete's Canada Centre Heritage Museum, located of TC1 just east of Winnipeg. The museum was started in the 1980's as a labour of love by its owner to preserve the agricultural heritage of the Prairies. Everything has been left "as-is", as farming was not always about looks, but on results. Everything on display was either donated or acquired by private sale from prairie farms and owners. There is in no fee to visit, but donations are accepted.
