"Two months later, in the evening of August 12, an American patrol coming from Herbault pushed to the district of Les Allées through the state-owned forest of Blois, but it was soon chased away by the fire of the German batteries in position in Blois-Vienne, and its presence had led the Maquisards to uncover themselves to attack a German post located on the road to Chateaurenault, at the level of Air-Equipement.
Bernard Mazille, born in Paris in 1927, came to Blois to live with his grandparents who lived in rue de la Quinière, on the edge of the forest of Blois. He hired at Air-Equipement and immediately took an active part in the Resistance. He was killed in this same forest, at the age of seventeen, on August 14, 1944, not far from the "Valentine de Milan" rest area, where a commemorative plaque on the edge of the old well recalls his memory."
