In June 2000, this Gingko Biloba tree was dedicated as the millennium project for St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Stittsville. The rural Presbyterian congregation dates back to 1822. This church building became the home of that congregation in 1956.

The Gingko Biloba tree seems like a suitable symbol for the millennium project. Some specimens of this species have already lived for more than one thousand years.
