DESCRIPTION DE L'OEUVRE
"Cette œuvre cinétique, don du sculpteur québécois Charles Daudelin, a été conçue en vue de capter les éléments naturels : soleil, vent, eau, neige. Cela faisait partie des préoccupations constantes de l’artiste, la nature ayant toujours été sa complice. Les neuf colonnes en alternance bleues et vertes s’élancent vers le ciel et supportent des disques en acier inoxydable poli (fini miroir) qui oscillent dans le vent et nous renvoient l’image de la vie au sol, hiver comme été. Le soir, l’éclairage encastré dans le sol vient animer l’ensemble. En milieu urbain, les œuvres de Daudelin sont souvent associées à un bâtiment. Il s’agit ici d’un rare cas où l’une de ses sculptures est installée dans un grand parc aux arbres matures et à proximité d’un lac. Au Palais des congrès de Montréal, on retrouve Éolienne V, une œuvre apparentée, tant par sa géométrie que par son principe moteur. Dans les deux cas, le vent devient partie prenante de l’œuvre."

ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
"This kinetic sculpture, donated by Quebec sculptor Charles Daudelin, was conceived to capture the natural elements – sun, wind, water, snow. The artist was constantly aware of these elements and always worked alongside nature. The nine alternating blue and green columns soar skyward, capped with stainless steel disks polished to a mirror finish that sway in the wind and reflect images of life to us below, in winter and summer alike. At night, the work comes to life, bathing in the recessed lighting.
Daudelin’s works in urban settings are often associated with a building. This is a rare case where one of his sculptures is in a large park with mature trees near a lake. The Palais des congrès de Montréal is home to Éolienne V, a similar work in its geometry and guiding principle. In both works, the wind plays an active role."
