AW1264 - "D 1244" vertical control mark - Pasadena, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

As described by the NGS in 1978:

"[...] ABOUT 6.1 MILES EAST ALONG SPENCER HIGHWAY FROM THE GALVESTON, HOUSTON AND HENDERSON RAILROAD STATION IN SOUTH HOUSTON, AT THE INTERSECTION OF RED BLUFF ROAD, SET IN THE SOUTH EAST CORNER OF THE WEST CATCH BASIN 147 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, [...], 27 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF RED BLUFF ROAD, AND 0.5 FOOT WEST OF THE WEST CURB OF RED BLUFF ROAD."

The railroad station is long gone, but the rest of the NGS description is still pretty accurate -- and so are the distance estimates.

Likewise, the NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 29 39 47.28 W 095 07 57.27") were pretty much in line with mine: my measurements were "N 29° 39.787 W 95° 07.955" with 5-10' accuracy.

The station was recovered in decent, but not great condition... there are several deep scratches/grooves on the disk.
