Data obtained by the City of Alexandria.
Notes: Forty years ago, a determined group of Alexandrians established the Bicentennial Tree Project. After an exhaustive multi-year, city-wide search, a group of 17 trees were identified as "Living Witnesses of the American Revolution." Each tree was given a plaque attesting to its distinction and designation. This particular Willow oak was designated as the official Alexandria Bicentennial Tree.
A local newspaper discussed this tree, the Bicentennial Tree Project, and how a local Cub Scout group performed restoration work on these trees in an older (2004) article.
