"This theatre was built in 1946, but opened later on April 4, 1947 as the Griffith Theatre screening Fred Astaire in “Yolanda and the Thief”. It was renamed Royal Theatre in 1949 and has operated continuously ever since. Movies are shown three nights a week, with periodic live performances.

Recently renovated, the theatre is still in need of new sound system and lighting, as well as new heating and air-conditioning."
