The main attraction is the Sistine Chapel , built between 1475 and 1481 during the papacy of Sixtus IV de la Rovere, from which it took its name. A masterpiece made by great artists such as Perugino, Botticelli, Rosselli and Ghirlandaio.
The most famous intervention is, without a doubt, that of Michelangelo who decorated the vault and carried out the Last Judgment , behind the altar. The Sistine Chapel is known throughout the world both for its magnificent decoration and for being the place where the conclave takes place .
