Das Warten hat bald ein Ende: Besucher des Kreiskulturzentrums, aber auch diejenigen, die sich einen netten Abend in einem Lokal machen wollen, haben dazu ab Anfang April Gelegenheit. Denn das mehrmonatige Fehlen eines gastronomischen Angebots nach der Schließung des Café Stüffje ist in wenigen Wochen vorbei. Eröffnet wird dann die „Trattoria 29“. „29“, weil das Kulturzentrum mit Landwirtschaftsmuseum, Rückriem-Hallen und der aktuellen Ausstellung „Kaffee in der Region – gestern, heute, morgen“ in Sinsteden die Adresse Grevenbroicher Straße 29 hat.
Pächter des Lokals mit 30 Innen- und 40 Terrassenplätzen sind Francesco und Sarah Mastrapasqua. Und die haben es nicht weit, sie wohnen nämlich mit ihren zwei Söhnen und der Tochter in Rommerskirchen. Die Gastronomie ist für sie kein neues Terrain. Bereits in Köln-Bickendorf, später in Ehrenfeld, hatten sie ein Restaurant, das sie allerdings vor vier Jahren geschlossen haben. „Uns fehlte dort einfach eine Terrasse und damit im Sommer die Gäste“, sagt Francesco Mastrapasqua, der gelernter Koch ist, und seitdem in der Gastronomie des Möbelhauses Segmüller gearbeitet hatte. Doch diesen Job hat der Italiener nun gekündigt. „Eine Nachbarin hat uns darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass neue Pächter gesucht werden“, sagt Ehefrau Sarah, die bei einem Pharmahersteller arbeitet und das auch weiter machen wird. Doch aktuell hilft sie ihrem Mann bei der Einrichtung der Trattoria. Die Räumlichkeiten sind frisch gestrichen, neue Tische und Stühle geliefert, und eine Sitzbank, noch aus dem alten Lokal, steht schon. Was bleiben wird, ist der alte Ofen, den bereits Horst Lichter seinem Nachfolger hinterlassen hatte. „Daraus machen wir vielleicht unsere Likör-Bar“, nennt Sarah Mastrapasqua eine Idee.
Im Mittelpunkt steht künftig natürlich die italienische Küche mit Pizza, Pasta und allem, was dazu gehört. Aber eine Tradition will das Ehepaar wieder aufleben lassen: den Reibekuchentag am Mittwoch. An einem anderen Abend soll es frische Nudeln geben. Abends dorthin zum Essen gehen, ist daher möglich, denn die „Trattoria 29“ hat dienstags bis samstags von 12 bis 22 Uhr, sonntags von 12 bis 18.30 Uhr (Montag ist Ruhetag) geöffnet. Mittags soll es künftig, neben der Karte, zwei preisgünstige Gerichte geben, die auch ausgeliefert werden. Nachmittags wird Kuchen angeboten. Und immer wieder wird es saisonale Menüs geben. Einen Pachtvertrag haben die Mastrapasquas nun erst einmal für drei Jahre mit dem Rhein-Kreis abgeschlossen. „Wir wollen natürlich länger bleiben“, sind sich beide einig. Doch nun geht es erst einmal mit Riesenschritten Richtung Eröffnung Anfang April. Das exakte Datum steht noch nicht fest. Gesucht werden auch noch Mitarbeiter (www.trattoria29.de).

Because the lack of a gastronomic offer for several months after the closure of Café Stüffje will be over in a few weeks. The "Trattoria 29" will then be opened. “29” because the cultural center with the agricultural museum, Rückriem halls and the current exhibition “Coffee in the region - yesterday, today, tomorrow” in Sinsteden is at Grevenbroicher Straße 29.
Francesco and Sarah Mastrapasqua are the tenants of the restaurant with 30 indoor and 40 terrace seats. And they don't have to go far, because they live with their two sons and daughter in Rommerskirchen. Gastronomy is not new territory for them. They already had a restaurant in Cologne-Bickendorf, later in Ehrenfeld, which they closed four years ago. “We just lacked a terrace there and thus the guests in the summer,” says Francesco Mastrapasqua, who is a trained chef and has since worked in the gastronomy of the Segmüller furniture store. But the Italian has now quit this job. "A neighbor made us aware that new tenants are being sought," says wife Sarah, who works for a pharmaceutical manufacturer and will continue to do so. But she's currently helping her husband set up the trattoria. The rooms have been freshly painted, new tables and chairs have been delivered, and a bench from the old restaurant is already there. What will remain is the old stove that Horst Lichter left behind for his successor. “We might make our liqueur bar out of this,” says Sarah Mastrapasqua of an idea.
In future, of course, the focus will be on Italian cuisine with pizza, pasta and everything that goes with it. But the couple want to revive a tradition: potato fritters day on Wednesday. There should be fresh pasta on another evening. Going there for dinner in the evening is therefore possible, because “Trattoria 29” is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12 noon to 10 pm, and on Sunday from 12 noon to 6.30 pm (closed on Mondays). In the future, in addition to the menu, there will be two inexpensive dishes at lunchtime that will also be delivered. Cake is offered in the afternoon. And there will always be seasonal menus. The Mastrapasquas have now signed a three-year lease with the Rhein-Kreis. “Of course we want to stay longer,” both agree. But now it is first of all taking giant strides towards the opening in early April. The exact date has not yet been determined. We are also looking for employees (www.trattoria29.de).
