There's a photo of Dan at the top of the sign, with "Dan Bolton 1921-2000" and this text:
Dan Bolton became a local legend and was known far and wide for his fresh produce and tall tales. He was a familiar figure as he drove his tractor to town each day, pulling a trailer loaded with fruits and vegetables. His specialty was big, juicy watermelons available almost year round. The tall man in the striped overalls operated "Dan's Shed" for half a century. He always had a wave for those who pass by, and those who stopped were rewarded with a big smile, one of his timeless stories, and a sample of his constant supply of fruits and vegetables.
Although a bachelor, Dan was very fond of children, and many locals earned their first money helping him. They also were assured of an adequate supply of pumpkins for jack o' lanterns.
Dan remains the image of the friendly and slower pace of those who earned their living from the land and shared with their neighbors.
