De rooms-katholieke kerk van Cabauw is gebouwd tussen 1926 en 1928 naar ontwerp van Herman Kroes en Zn. uit Amersfoort. Het is een laat werk in het oeuvre van Herman Kroes, dat zich kenmerkt door een Zakelijk Expressionistische bouwtrant, waarbij hij de bekende neogotische stijl afwisselt met Amsterdamse School-invloeden. De kerk is deels opgetrokken rond een betonconstructie, uitgevoerd door N.V. Betonmaatschappij Begram van Eeten en De Bruyne. De opdrachtgever van de bouw was pastoor H.J. Vinke. Op het kerkhof aan de noordzijde van de kerk bevindt zich een plaquette. De kerk, die is gewijd aan de Heilige Jacobus, staat op de plaats van een kerk uit 1846 die een kwartslag gedraaid stond ten opzichte van het huidige gebouw. De aangebouwde pastorie dateert van omstreeks 1846. De kerk is opvallend gelegen in Cabauw en vormt een opvallend markeringspunt in de wijde omgeving.

The Roman Catholic CHURCH of Cabauw was built between 1926 and 1928 to a design by Herman Kroes en Zn. from Amersfoort. It is a late work in Herman Kroes' oeuvre, which is characterized by a Business Expressionist construction style, in which he alternates the well-known neo-Gothic style with Amsterdam School influences. The church is partly built around a concrete construction, executed by N.V. Betonmaatschappij Begram van Eeten and De Bruyne. The client of the construction was Father H.J. Vinke. There is a plaque in the cemetery on the north side of the church. The church, which is dedicated to Saint James, stands on the site of an 1846 church that was turned a quarter of a turn from the current building. The attached rectory dates from around 1846. The church is strikingly located in Cabauw and is a striking landmark in the wider area.
