The current Botanical Garden in Lund was established from 1862-1867. The Botanical Garden had previously been part of Lund University but in 1972 it was detached from the then Botanical Institute. However, the botanical garden still supports research and education. Today, the purpose is to be a place where knowledge about botany, horticulture and environmental issues can be seen by the public.
The Botanical Garden is 8 acres and consists of thousands of plants, trees and shrubs. The garden is divided into different areas just as there are greenhouses
