The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is the oldest and largest nonprofit in Southern Arizona serving pets and the people who love them. They aim to make a better life for the cats, dogs and other furry friends that come through Their doors, and also aim to make a better community for everyone. They do that with a broad range of programs and services encompassing 'Three Pillars". These pillars are Shelter and Placement, Prevention, Education and Outreach.
Their wide array of services include: adoptions, veterinary care, a Foster Care Program, affordable and/or free spay and neuter surgeries and vaccinations, an Animal Cruelty Task Force, animal cruelty education, School-Based Education Prevention Programs, youth and student internships, Canine Assessment & Risk Evaluation (an HSSA-designed assessment to try to determine the probability of future aggression in dogs 6 months and older), training topics available for download on their website, a newsletter, a store and events.
