The thirty tons of the Nexus VI sculpture , in the Os Remedios roundabout, have an added element that surprises passers-by due to the danger and lack of sensitivity to the work. One of the figure's arms - a male torso with a raised fist - is surrounded by wiring that connects directly to a lamppost several meters from the roundabout. Xosé Lois Carreira, the Limiano sculptor who made this work in 2002 representing a "sixth virtual bridge of Ourense", is "surprised" and "annoyed" by the news of which he was not aware. "There is a total lack of professionalism and sensitivity and lack of respect for our cultural heritage," he explains.
The carelessness of public administrations with the works that give the city luster is an old social demand, also of the authors who see how political ineffectiveness lets their sculptures die.
Xosé Lois Carreira awaits the reaction of the institutions so that "the song is started before, it is the first time that something like this happens for 18 years that it has been installed." It also points to the danger of the "cable tied badly" in the granite sculpture that can cause some unforeseen "no car falls".
