Tom's Cairn is a 310 metre high hill halfway between the Aberdeenshire towns of Aboyne and Banchory. Despite its relatively low height, the hill is still a prominent local landmark between the valley of the River Dee to the north, and the Water of Feugh to the south.
The summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey trig pillar and a cairn which are around forty feet apart, the cairn lying to the north. The cairn is around four feet tall and overlooks the rolling hills and distant mountains to the north and west. It is not known if the hill or cairn were named first, nor who the 'Tom' is.
The hill is a popular walk, with a waymarked route of around a mile and a half from the B976 road to the west. A local hill race is staged each year from the nearby village of Finzean, which heads up to the cairn and back.
