The former village infants’ school on Church Road in Onchan which is now called Welch House.
The former infants’ school was built in 1842 to a design by William Webbe. The decision to build the dedicated infants' school was taken in 1841 and money for its construction was raised by a series of special sermons.
William Webbe was a former partner of John Welch and so the building has a number of features in common with those designed by John Welch such as the figurehead above the main entrance. John Welch designed the nearby church of St. Peter's.
Today Welch House provides self-catering accommodation for visitors
