Sisters of Providence Convent Bell us mounted on a granite base o the southeast side of Providence Place. It is hanging from an iron frame with topped with a small gold colored cross. The inscription on the base gives the interesting history of the bell.

THIS BELL HUNG ORIGINALLY IN THE CUPOLA OF THE
TUGBOAT, THE GATE CITY WHICH SANK IN LONG ISLAND
SOUND. IN 1895 THE BELL WAS DONATED TO
SISTERS BY BISHOP THOMAS BEAVEN'S CHAUFFEUR,
JOHN SULLIVAN. IT WAS HUNG IN THE BELFRY OF OUR
LADY OF VICTORY CONVENT, BRIGHTSIDE, THE FIRST
MOTHERHOUSE OF THE SISTERS OF PROVIDENCE WHEN
THE ORDER WAS ESTABLISHED IN HOLYOKE IN 1892.
FIREFIGHTERS RESCUED THE BELL WHEN THE CONVENT
BURNED TO THE GROUND IN FEBRUARY 1961.
