There is a lot to see and do when visiting the grounds of St. Anthony du Padua Catholic Church or its Shrine of St Anthony du Padua. The main church is an active church that shares its grounds with apartments for priests and another for nuns. There is a Community Center for meetings, seminars or special occasions.

A main entrance not the church's property is found at the corner of West Nottingham Drive and Peter Baque Road. Use the address of 80 Peter Baque Road, San Antonio, TX 78209 to find your way here. The building at this entrance is for priest, but behind this building is where the cemetery is located. Park in the open parking spaces available at this corner entrance. Walk the pathways leading around the Padua Place building and you will see the cemetery toward the back fence.

This small cemetery appears to be used as a private cemetery for former priests and former nuns. Another section of the cemetery area appears to be a large family plot of many formerly prominent leaders of San Antonio who also supported this Catholic Church.

Interestingly, outside of but close to the NE edge of the well defined area of the people cemetery, there are two smaller gravesite for former pets. One pet's gravesite is lined in red concrete paving blocks and has a red granite grave marker. The other is lined in white concrete paving blocks and has a large white rock as a headstone.

The engraving on the red granite stone shows an etching of a German Shepard' head. The text on the granite marker reads"

"ANNA
A Faithful German Shepard
1985 - 1997"

The second pet's grave site is circled with white concrete paving blocks and has a large. flat-surfaced rock as its headstone.Te text on the white stone reads:

"CHULA
You left a
paw print in
our hearts"

The St Anthony du Padua Catholic Church owns the property so it technically is private property. However, because of the nature of the ministry of the Church, it welcomes people from the community to visit and to make use of the services and ministries offered by this church. As such, any visitor is expected to be respectful of the property and to not disturb any other gatherings or other individuals who may be here for prayer, counsel, or meditation. When visiting the cemetery, be reverent and respectful of the departed.
