A plaque in memory of Sophie Kniveton which can be found in the churchyard of St. Peter's on Church Road in Onchan.
The plaque records that the floodlighting to the church was provided in memory of Sophie Kniveton by her sons Gordon, Ray and Peter.
The inscription on the plaque is as follows:
'THE FLOODLIGHTING TO THIS CHURCH
WAS PROVIDED IN MEMORY OF
SOPHIE KNIVETON
1899 - 1978
BY HER SONS - GORDON, RAY & PETER
March 1994'
Unfortunately, as Sophie was of the pre-internet age there are no readily avialable records which could tell of her long life and achievements. It is clear however that Sophie was greatly loved by her children.
