Estaires et La Gorgue sont des villages adjacents à environ 10 kilomètres au sud-ouest d'Armentières et à 15 kilomètres au nord-nord-est de Béthune. Le cimetière est au sud du village de La Gorgue et un peu à l'est de la route reliant ce village à Lestrem.

Informations historiques
La Gorgue a été pendant quelques années une tête de ligne alliée et une station d'ambulance de campagne. Du 10 avril à la mi-septembre 1918, il était aux mains des Allemands.
Le cimetière communal de La Gorgue a été utilisé pour les enterrements d'octobre 1914 à décembre 1917, puis de nouveau en septembre et octobre 1918.
Le cimetière contient 144 sépultures du Commonwealth de la Première Guerre mondiale, dont une non identifiée. Il y a également sept sépultures de la Seconde Guerre mondiale (dont une non identifiée) et trois tombes allemandes.
