Major General John Fulton Reynolds was one to fall to his death early during the Battle of Gettysburg, falling several hundred yards of the general's monument that honors him.
The esquestrian/general's statue was placed by the State of Pennsylvania.
It is said that a shot slammed into the back of his neck as he directed the men he lead. Union men who rushed to his side stated that he died instantly.
General John Fulton Reynolds was laid to rest on July 4th, 1863, in his hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The equestrian/general's statue is made of Standard Bronze at a cost of about $27,000.
