EN This chapel is located near the village of Châteauroux, on the edge of the deviation of the N94.
The hamlet of Sainte-Catherine already existed in the 13th century under the name of “Foresta Sancta Catharina” with probably a sanctuary.
Older than its neighbor, the Chapel of Saint James, it probably dates from the 14th century. These two chapels are of the same architectural style and the same materials were used for their construction: pebbles from the Durance and slate from the country. .
On the Napoleonic cadastral plan, a cemetery was nearby.
In ruins during the 19th century, the inhabitants restored the chapel. It was returned to worship and blessed by the parish priest in 1882.
Ruined again during the 20th century, its restoration was undertaken by the association Pro.si.pa. founded in 1988: the apse was consolidated and covered. The restoration of the nave remains unfinished today.
