Parish chest in the chancel of St Andrew's church, Eakring. It is carved with the year, 1730, and looks to be a hutch type construction. It has much less iron banding than earlier church chests, but still retains the 3 locks needed to open it. These are on a central hasp with three padlock eyes. The front is carved with a simple geometric design, which I can only describe as 'daisy-wheel like', although much earlier than the invention of the spirograph! As hard as I have tried, I have been unable to replicate it..... have a go here.
