De gemeente Capelle aan den IJssel heeft ter verfraaiing van de oude dorpskern een nostalgische dorpspomp geplaatst. De pomp lijkt heel veel op de oude die hier tot ongeveer 1913 heeft gestaan. Toen kwam het water rechtstreeks uit de toen nog schone Hollandsche IJssel. Nu is de pomp op het drinkwaterleidingnet aangesloten.
Op 6 september 2001 is de nieuwe dorpspomp in bedrijf gesteld door wethouder Tammel. De pomp is voorzien van een koperen plaquette met de tekst: "Tot begin 20e eeuw werd hier door
boeren en burgers van Capelle-Dorp en omgeving drink- spoel- en bluswater getapt. Schoon water dat rechtstreeks uit een toen nog niet vervuilde Hollandsche IJssel kwam".

The municipality of Capelle aan den IJssel has installed a nostalgic village pump to embellish the old village center. The pump is very similar to the old one that stood here until about 1913. Then the water came directly from the then still clean Hollandsche IJssel. The pump is now connected to the drinking water network.
On September 6, 2001, the new village pump was put into operation by Alderman Tammel. The pump features a copper plaque that reads: "Until early 20th century, this was done by
farmers and citizens of Capelle-Dorp and the surrounding area are tapped for drinking, flushing and extinguishing water. Clean water that came directly from a then unpolluted Hollandsche IJssel ".
