Laxey has a pebble and sand beach. The sandier part of the beach is only exposed at low tide.

The beach runs from the cliffs to the south to the harbour breakwater in the north and can be access at any point by able-bodied people over the low seawall which runs the length of the promenade from the breakwater to the former End Cafe.

At the southern end of the beach large rocks which prelude the actual cliffs are exposed at low tide and offer lots of rock pools which can be fascinating to explore, although must be taken not to get cut-off by the incoming tide.

'To the landward side of the beach is Laxey Promenade which has a beachfront cafe, a grassed area, car parking and public toilets. A lovely spot to have that essential ice-cream while looking out to sea.

The name Laxey comes from the old Norse 'laxa' (salmon) which gives its name to the Laxey River or Salmon River. The river flows down from Snaefell mountain into the sea at Laxey harbour. The stone harbour breakwaters are a great place for a spot of pier fishing at high-water.

Access to Laxey Beach is easy by bus, car or using the Manx Electric Railway which has a main station just a few minutes’ walk from the beach.

Nearby attractions include the Laxey Woollen Mills, Laxey Wheel, the Salmon Lake Centre, as well as a number of small independent shops and village pubs.' (visit link)
