DE: Ein Gradierwerk ist eine Anlage zur Salzgewinnung. Sie besteht aus einem Holzgerüst, das mit Reisigbündeln (vorwiegend Schwarzdorn) verfüllt ist. Das Verb gradieren bedeutet „einen Stoff in einem Medium konzentrieren“. Im Falle eines Gradierwerks wird der Salzgehalt im Wasser erhöht, indem Sole durch das Reisig hindurchgeleitet wird, wobei auf natürliche Weise Wasser verdunstet. Außerdem lagern sich Verunreinigungen der Sole an den Dornen ab, dadurch wird die Qualität des erzeugten Salzes erhöht.
Durch die herabrieselnde Sole wird die Luft in der Nähe des Gradierwerks mit Soletröpfchen und Salzaerosol angereichert, die Wassertröpfchen binden Partikel in der Luft. Dies wirkt sich ähnlich wie bei Seeluft beispielsweise bei Pollenallergikern und Asthmatikern positiv aus. Durch das Einatmen salzhaltiger Luft werden die Atemwege befeuchtet und die Wandungen der Atemorgane positiv beeinflusst. Des Weiteren besitzen die feinen Salzkristalle eine sekretlösende Wirkung, reinigen die Atemwege intensiv von Bakterien und lassen die Schleimhäute abschwellen.
