Das zeigt auch die blumenreiche bunte Elise, am Eingang vom Freibad im Selbachpark.
Anlässlich des 775-jährigen Bestehens der Stadt Hamm am 4. März 2001 wurde der erste Blumenelefant im Kurpark aufgestellt. 2002 folgte der Elefant vor dem Rathaus am Theodor-Heuss-Platz, 2004 der in Pelkum und 2006 der Elefant in Herringen. Neu bepflanzt werden die Elefanten zweimal im Jahr: im Frühjahr und im Herbst.
Damit die Blumen richtig anwachsen, werden die Elefanten mit 12 bis 14 Kubikmetern Erde befüllt. Schließlich haben die vier Tiere eine stattliche Größe: Sie sind etwa 2,50 Meter hoch, vier Meter lang und 1,80 Meter breit.

On the occasion of the 775th anniversary of the city of Hamm on March 4, 2001, the first flower elephant was set up in the spa gardens. In 2002 the elephant in front of the town hall on Theodor-Heuss-Platz followed, in 2004 the one in Pelkum and in 2006 the elephant in Herringen. The elephants are replanted twice a year: in spring and in autumn.
So that the flowers grow properly, the elephants are filled with 12 to 14 cubic meters of soil. After all, the four animals have a stately size: They are about 2.50 meters high, four meters long and 1.80 meters wide.
