Door het samengaan van de gemeenten Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, Zevenhuizen, Moerkapelle en Moordrecht in 1 gemeente Zuidplas voldeed het oorspronkelijke gemeentehuis in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel al geruime tijd niet meer al was deze nog geen 25 jaar oud. Nieuwbouw bleek uiteindelijk voordeliger dan aanpassen van de huidige locatie en gaf tevens de mogelijkheid tot verduurzaming. Het nieuwe gemeentehuis voegt vier locaties samen tot één locatie aan het Raadhuisplein en is door Kraaijvanger Architects ontworpen. Door de centralisatie bevinden zich nu de raads activiteiten, publiekszaken, trouwlocatie en ambtelijke organisatie onder één dak.
Het nieuwe energieneutrale gemeentehuis Zuidplas beslaat ca. 3.500 m2, verdeeld over 3 verdiepingen. Op 7 Juni 2019 is nieuwe gemeentehuis officieel geopend.

Due to the merger of the municipalities of Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, Zevenhuizen, Moerkapelle and Moordrecht into 1 municipality of Zuidplas, the original town hall in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel had been inadequate for quite some time, although it was less than 25 years old. In the end, new construction turned out to be more advantageous than adapting the current location and also provided the opportunity for sustainability. The new town hall merges four locations into one location on the Raadhuisplein and was designed by Kraaijvanger Architects. Due to the centralization, the council activities, public affairs, wedding location and official organization are now under one roof.
The new energy-neutral town hall Zuidplas covers approx. 3,500 m2, spread over 3 floors. The new town hall was officially opened on 7 June 2019.
