On the extension of the green mantle that makes the main food sprout, the Balinese work in a millimeter way , patiently staying next to their crops while taking care of each of the plants and each of the shoots .
Staggered crops
The mountainous structure of the land makes rice cultivation not an easy task , but this is something that the Balinese solve with tiered rice fields , the result of cooperation between nature and man. Some of the terraces have taken several centuries to build, but today they make up a green landscape worthy of the most beautiful on postcards .
A system of canals carries the water from the springs to the rice fields to keep them waterlogged, and after 210 days the rice is ready to be harvested . After this the land is prepared again for the next planting. The whole process is carefully watched by Dewi Sri, Goddess of Rice , to whom the farmers pay special tribute with the small shrines they place in the plantation
