This chapel, formally known as Ermida de Santo António do Vale e Nossa Senhora da Assunção, was built in the second half of the 18th century. Accordingly to the legend it was constructed on the exact spot where Santo António had a rest on his way to Tagus river, where he embarked to sail to North Africa.
It's a small and humble temple, well disguised amongst residential buildings. Its highlight is in the interior, where the Portuguese blue tiles are amazing. Some depict episodes of the life of the saint while other show scenes of the life of Our Lady.
