The Casola do Foxo, a megalithic monument of the Muíños Council, has been the object of the intervention carried out by the Department of Culture, Education and University Planning with the aim of recovering the original design of this dolmen located on the banks of the Salas reservoir . "All the years we try to perform actions on us monuments of the megalithic route, focused not on their maintenance and also recovery actions," explained the mayor, Plácido Álvarez, who clarified that "they are not isolated actions, they are not followed or a recovery protocol that is not fixed moment José María Eguileta ", archaeologist and student of megalithism in the Salas valley.
With a base bidding budget of 9,000 euros, in this campaign a team made up of archaeologists Jorge Lamas, Manuel Lestón, Manuel Valdeiras (coordinator) and restorer Victoria Folgueira have carried out cleaning work inside the dolmen (where there were remains of bonfires and cans), as well as the placement of one of the side stones that for years had been covering the original entrance to the burial mound. "Or that from the beginning, it was not originally. Possibly the shepherds or hunters moved fai moitos years to more protection against adverse weather conditions", explains Manuel Valdeiras, who this weekend participated in the guided tour of the route megalithic to make known to neighbors and visitors the work carried out in the area,
In the intervention, which included several archaeological tastings, the experts found remains of bell-shaped ceramics and came to the conclusion that "there would be a missing stone to cover or burato that faces the entrance, as well as that a polygonal chamber could have a corridor that would date or dolmen is not the most recent stage it was created, so it would be interesting to approve a new intervention in the area, "said Valdeiras.
