The Hayward-Bacon House (#5) was built c. 1826 by Asa Bacon, a tanner. As originally constructed, the house had a center chimney which was removed during interior alterations in the 1870's, giving way to the two small chimneys now present. The building is five bays wide with a ridge roof and has a center, six-panel door. Tradition indicates that this ell was once attached to the Rider Tavern and moved to the Hayward-Bacon House after the tavern ceased to be a public house.
