[FR] Le musée est constitué de la maison de Jean-Jacques-Rousseau, le Mont-Louis, et de la Maison des Commères liée à la vie du philosophe à Montmorency. Au fond du jardin, le « donjon », petit pavillon mansardé, était le cabinet de travail de l'écrivain. C'est là qu'il écrivit Julie ou la Nouvelle Héloïse, la Lettre à d'Alembert sur les spectacles de l'Encyclopédie, Émile, ou De l'éducation et le Du contrat social. Une extension de la maison datant du xixe siècle abrite régulièrement des expositions temporaires, sur la vie et l’œuvre de Rousseau ainsi que sur le xviiie siècle en général et l’histoire locale. La Maison des Commères abrite quant à elle une bibliothèque de consultation et de recherche ouverte à tous ainsi que les activités éducatives du musée.
[EN] The museum is made up of the house of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and the "House of the Gossipers" linked to the life of the philosopher in Montmorency. At the back of the garden, the "keep", the small pavilion with the mansard roof, was where he preferred to write. This is where he wrote "Julie; or, The New Heloise", the "Letter to M. D'Alembert on Spectacles", "Emile, or On Education" and "the Social Contract". And extension to the house dating from the 19th century houses regular temporary exhibitions on the life and works of Rousseau as well as on the 17th century in general and on local history. As for the "House of the Gossipers" it houses a research library open to the public as well as the educational activities of the museum.
