The construction of the Capilla Santa Cruz began in 2009. After several delays the chapel was consecrated in 2018. Capilla Santa Cruz was build on what is reported to be the site of the first Catholic mass in Mexico in 1518.
The church has distinct parts. The front façade of the church is composed of cut stone with a stepped top topped by a white cross. The entrance has rustic wooden double doors. Next is a tiered, stucco, white bell tower that rises above a vestibule. The next section is again composed of cut stone which encloses the aisle. There are two windows on the lower and upper level. The altar is enclosed white stucco semicircular area that is topped with a dome, cupola and a cross. There are seven two story high windows behind the altar. The central window is larger and flanked by three windows on each side.
