The station is located at kilometer point 279,177 of the Iberian gauge railway that connects Zamora with La Coruña at an altitude of 396 meters, between the Friela-Maside and Irijo stations .
The section is single track and is not electrified.
The station was opened on 1 July of of 1957 with the implementation of the section Orense - Carballino of the railway line intended to unite Zamora Corunna. 3 Its initial exploitation was in charge of RENFE whose birth had taken place in 1941.
Since December 31, 2004, Renfe Operadora has operated the line while Adif is the owner of the railway facilities.
The building for travelers is a large rectangular building made up of two floors. It has the peculiarity of having a three-story tower on one of its sides. The façade also has a small pediment in which a needle clock is embedded.
It has two platforms, one lateral and the other central, accessed by three routes (track 3, lateral platform, track 1 and 2, central platform). Another five more numbered tracks such as tracks 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 complete the facilities. The last two are sidings that give access to a covered loading dock.
