Civil War Confederate Brigadier General. He led the 2nd North Carolina at Chancellorsville, was captured again and imprisoned at Johnson's Island. After being exchanged, he was appointed Brigadier General in November 1864.

Description:
From Find A Grave: Civil War Confederate Brigadier General. At the start of the Civil War, he was a lawyer in practice when he enlisted in the Confederate Army and was commissioned a Major in the 4th Virginia Cavalry. In actions at Williamsburg, he was severely wounded, captured, prisoner exchanged and returned to duty as Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd North Carolina Cavalry, He led the 2nd North Carolina at Chancellorsville, was captured again and imprisoned at Johnson's Island. After being exchanged, he was appointed Brigadier General in November 1864 and served in final operations around Richmond, Virginia. After the war, he resumed law practice as the general counsel for the Southern Railway Company. He died in Washington D.C.
