Son of Robert Middleton Atty,(1770-1833) - "William Frederick Willes Attye (1820-46), baptised at Snitterfield, 30 January 1820; an officer in the 31st regiment (Ensign, 1839; Lt., 1842) who saw extensive service in India and Afghanistan, being wounded in the action at Aliwal; died unmarried of fever in India, 8 May 1846; commemorated by a memorial window in Snitterfield church"
