The plaques on either end of the arch say, "The original "Encinitas" sign spanned Historic Highway 101 from 1928 to 1937.

Reinstallation of the historic Encinitas sign in celebration of the 14th year of the City's incorporation and the millennium year 2000 is dedicated to the Citizens of Encinitas."
