On the southeast corner of W. main and N. 3rd Streets stands a True Value hardware store. Where once a nondescript tree stood, today there is a delightful wood carving, appropriate for its location next to a hardware store.
The artist is Clayton Coss, a chainsaw carver since 1985. He has transformed literally thousands of trees across Oklahoma in the past three decades. This tree was carved in 2020. At the top of the carving are various tools and construction related items you might find in the nearby hardware store: A hammer, wrench, nuts, bolts and nails. As it stands adjacent to Main Street (Route 66), the highway shield is also carved into the tree. A photo shown below is from Google maps showing the tree which offered itself for this fun carving. Thank you Clayton Coss.
