St. James Church, on the corner of Buffalo Road and Bird Drive in Erie, Pennsylvania, was built in 1949. The parish was founded in 1922 after a petition was sent to Bishop John Mark Gannon asking for a parish to be organized near the borough of Wesleyville. Rev. Francis Coughlin was appointed as the first pastor. After the new church building was erected in 1949, a school was also added across the street in 1957. The parish and school are still in operation today.
