"A Spring Dedication Ceremony for the unveiling of the marker and an Excelsior Alumni reunion is planned for February 23, 2019. The program will begin at 11 am; however, there will be fellowship in the Excelsior gym starting at 10 am with a slide show of Excelsior School history.

This will be a first time reunion for Excelsior School. The reunion committee has been collecting copies of pictures and school memories for months and are excited to share these treasures of Excelsior School's past with everyone at the spring event.

Guest speakers for the event are Benny Russell, Excelsior School Board President; Allison Harbison, Shelby County Judge; David Chadwick, City of Center Mayor; and Colleen Doggett, Shelby County Historical Commission.

Following the marker dedication ceremony a food truck will be available for purchasing lunch and tables for fellowship will be inside the historic 1916 White Building which was formerly class rooms and cafeteria. During the lunch there will be an open microphone for sharing old memories.

The reunion committee is also on the hunt for the oldest living student. If you would like to submit any information, please contact the following reunion committee members: Laura Harris - harris2632@sbcglobal.net - 936-591-1278; Barbara Scates - bscates@excelsior.esc7.net - 936-591-1047; or call Benny and Thelma Russell - 936-598-2259; or Excelsior School - 936-598-5866.
