Inscription on an information panel on site:

A young couple moved in after his death (at the age of 91)
in 1974 to tend the gardens and the house. They kept hearing
noises upstairs like someone walking around. One morning
they couldn't open the door to his old room because a chest
had mysteriously slid in front of it and blocked the entrance.
When they reported these stories to his widow, Elizabeth,
who had moved to Tacoma, Washington, she was delighted.
She said she alway knew Oscar loved the house too much
to ever leave it.

A native of Sweden, Oscar Anderson built his home
with its magnificent views overlooking Cook Inlet
in the summer of 1915. Anchorage was then
merely a cluster of tents on the muddy banks
of Ship Creek.

Tours of the house are available but could be cancelled due to covid-19.
