EN: The Hohtenn train station is located at 1078 meters above sea level, high above the Rhone Valley on the Lötschberg line. In front of the old station building there is a modern functional building with a waiting room and underpass.

The village is about three kilometers away and about 200 meters lower. The reason for this station was hardly the opening up of the village, but it was a crossing point of the then single-track railway since the opening of the line in 1913. The line was only completely expanded to two tracks from 1976 to 1992. Since the opening of the base tunnel in 2007, long-distance passenger transport has shifted to it. Today - in addition to many freight trains - only the Regional Express between Brig and Bern runs here. The station is mainly used as a starting point for mountain hikes, including a well-known train themed trail along the south ramp to Brig.

DE: Der Bahnhof von Hohtenn befindet sich auf 1078 Meter über Meer hoch über dem Rhonetal an der Lötschberg-Linie. Vor dem alten Bahnhofsgebäude befindet sich noch ein moderner Zweckbau mit Wartesaal und Unterführung.

Das Dorf befindet sich etwa drei Kilometer entfernt und rund 200 Meter tiefer. Der Grund für diesen Bahnhof war auch kaum die Erschliessung des Dorfes, sondern hier war seit der Eröffnung der Linie 1913 ein Kreuzungspunkt der damals einspurigen Bahn. Die Linie wure erst 1976 bis 1992 vollständig zweispurig ausgebaut. Seit der Eröffnug des Basistunnels 2007 hat sich der Personen-Fernverkehr auf diesen verlagert. Heute verkehrt hier - neben vielen Güterzügen - nur noch der Regionalexpress zwischen Brig und Bern. Die Station wird vor allem als Startpunkt für Bergwanderungen benutzt, darunter auch ein bekannter Bahnwanderweg entlang der Südrampe bis nach Brig.
