The Fire Department of Edmond serves a community of over 93,000 residents. Edmond is a large fire department with paid firefighters. We were not able to determine the statistics. A City annual report showed that in 2019 the fire departments responded to 8367 events. There are currently five stations, with the main administration and training facility at Station No. 5 at 1300 E. Covell. The department is very active with numerous training activities, fund-raising events, and an 8-week Citizens Fire Academy training program designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of fire, rescue, and emergency medical operations in the Edmond Fire Department.

Station No. 3 on W. Danforth is a one-story brick building with two overhead doors.

A fire department was first established in Edmond in 1903. They had one aerial ladder truck and fought fires with water bucket brigades. By 1950, the had 2 pumpers and a Chief's car. During this time, up until 1971, college students slept in the firehouse to be available if needed during the night. During the day, they were released from classes if there was a fire. In 1976, when the population of the City exploded, two new firehouses were built (including this Station No. 3), and another two in 1983.
