The ancient city of Jerash is considered one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy and its history goes back more than 6,500 years.
Its imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres.
The ancient city of Jerash was hidden for centuries, buried under the sand. It was discovered in 1806 by a German traveler, Ulrich Jasper Seezten, who recognized part of the ruins.
